About
Now displaying treemap of the 30 latest Popular stories.

Explanation

This is a treeview representation of Digg.com, organised by category. You can hover over each 'leaf' to view the category name, it's diggs and comment count. These will be displayed in the bottom left corner. The size of a leaf represents the number of diggs in that category, the color intensity the number of comments.

In the Settings tab, you can set up the visualisation the way you want, which will then be stored for later use. This way, you can use DiggTreemap as your personal start page, where you can see what's happening on Digg when you start your browser!

Click on a leaf or category to zoom in to that. If you selected a subcategory, the Digg stories for that category will be displayed. There, you can digg the stories, go to them or to the comments for that story.

Settings explained

Type sets the type of Digg stories you want to view. Choices are Popular and Upcoming. Click on the button to change the type. Popular stories are the ones that are published on Digg's frontpage. Upcoming stories are stories submitted by users, but which are not published on the front page yet.

Storycount sets the amount of stories rendered. The maximum number of stories is 100, but note that a high number of stories requires more rendering time. If you have a slower computer, this may take a while.

By clicking on User, you can specify a username. The renderer will then only fetch stories dugg by that particular user. For example, if you want to see only your dugg stories, enter your username here. Click on the User button again to switch back to all users. When you select this option, you cannot filter between upcoming and popular stories. All stories dugg by this person will be displayed.

By using Timespan, you can specify a specific start and end date. Only stories that fall within this timeframe will be fetched from Digg. Note: when using the Popular type, specifying the current day as start and end date, you most likely won't get results.

When everything is set up as you want it, click on Render! to render the custom treeview. These settings are automatically stored for future use, so you won't have to set the treeview up everytime you use it.
